Get on your thinking caps, because it looks like we have a real-life Ocean’s Eleven-type caper on our hands here, except instead of a huge casino, we’re talking about the robbery of an elderly man (not quite as sexy now that I’ve written it all out like that).

According to TMZ, the legendary Stan Lee has had $1.4M mysteriously vanish from his bank account, and he has no clue how it happened. The comic book creator reportedly spoke with LAPD detectives for upwards of two hours. They questioned Lee about who had access to the accounts, the timeline of when the cash went missing, etc. Lee also gave up all his financial records, in hopes that it would help the investigation.

This is quite the unfortunate circumstance. Given Lee’s age, it’s quite evident that there are plenty of swindlers out there looking to take advantage of him, and it’s not like it’s the first time. Earlier this year, someone stole $850k to buy a condo.

In case you don’t know, Stan Lee is the man behind such big superheroes as Spider-Man and Hulk, and has gone on to be quite the figure in fanboys circles.

Hopefully, the police will be able to close this case sooner rather than later, and hopefully, Lee has plenty of other money to fall back on.
