15 Years Later The Rock Reacts To His First Leading Role In The Scorpion King

At this point in our lives some of us are beginning to roll our eyes every time Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is cast in a lead role for a film. From The Mummy Returns to the upcoming The Fate of the Furious we have all got our fair share of The Rock in many different roles. Today we are going to focus our attention on his first lead role in the film The Scorpion King.

Believe it or not The Scorpion King came out 15 years ago. It was made by Universal Pictures and was directed by Chuck Russell. The film also starred Steven Brand as Memnon, Michael Clarke Duncan as Balthazar and Kelly Hu as The Sorceress. It was released a year after his first appearance as an actor in The Mummy Returns.

With this month being it’s 15 year anniversary, Dwayne Johnson released a video on his Youtube channel where he reacts to his first leading role in The Scorpion King in a segment called “The Rock Reacts”. You can check out the video below.

The video kicks off with The Rock talking about how his role came about for The Scorpion King, which is a great story on it’s own. I am not going to get into the details of the video as no one is going describe the scenes as good as The Rock. But I will mention some of my favorite moments., so watch the video before you go on.

First of all I still find it hard to believe that those were real ants he was dealing with in the desert. Then I really enjoyed the moment when he was describing the stunt scene and how he did it on his own only to take it all back and give the credit to his stunt man. Last I thought it was hilarious that he had a fart machine go off during a romantic scene to lighten the mood. No doubt being on set with The Rock must be a good time.

With how far Dwayne Johnson has gone in his career, I enjoyed him taking a moment and reflecting on his first lead role. I remember at the time enjoying The Scorpion King and some of the films he did soon after. No doubt he has had a very successful career in Hollywood, but I wonder if he regrets doing a film called The Tooth Fairy
