Dean Parisot to Helm ‘Red 2’

Our favorite extremely dangerous retirees are closer to being back for a sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Summit Entertainment is in final negotiations with director Dean Parisot to helm the sequel to 2010’s action comedy “Red.”

His last major motion film was the 2005’s “Fun with Dick and Jane” that starred Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni. Since that movie, he directed a few episodes in television series including for “Monk,” “Modern Family,” and “The Good Wife.”

The trade magazine also expected the entire cast to return for the sequel, which included Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Morgan Freeman. However, no deals are signed at this time.

The 2010 film is about a former black-ops agent recruiting his former team to uncover these mysterious assassins attempting to kill them.

The film generated over $186 million worldwide in theater ticket sales in 2010. The film was also nominated for Best Picture in Musical or Comedy at the 68th Golden Globe Awards.
