Dwayne Johnson to Star in Russo Brothers ‘Ciudad’

Dwayne Johnson is keeping himself busy and there’s no sign he’ll be slowing down.

Deadline has reported the action hero signed on to star in the intense action thriller “Ciudad.”

The movie will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo based off their upcoming Oni Press graphic novel that they co-wrote with Ande Parks. It is about a mercenary hired by a Brazilian drug lord to rescue his kidnapped daughter.

Johnson will be appearing in the upcoming sequel “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” He is signed on with several future projects including “Pain and Gain,” “Empire State,” and “The Fast and the Furious 6.” It was also reported he signed on for MGM’s production of “Hercules” yesterday.

The project is the first feature film for the Russo brothers since 2006’s “You, Me and Dupree.” Since 2006, they’ve been directing television movies and television show episodes, including “Community,” “Happy Endings” and “Up All Night.”
