Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia Tapped to Pen ‘Y: The Last Man’ Film Adaptation

It’s down to the last man.

New Line Cinema is in final talks with the writing team Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia to adapt the comic book series “Y: The Last Man.”

The series is about the single man and pet monkey who survived an apocalyptic plague that killed every male mammal on Earth. And then it became the women’s pursuit to save humanity with the single man.

The writing duo of Federman and Scaia wrote episodes for several television series, including “Human Target,” “Jericho,” and “Judging Amy.”

The studio acquired the rights back in 2007 and tried to develop the film with screenwriter Carl Ellworth and director D.J. Caruso (“Disturbia”). At one point, Shia La Beouf was attached to star in the film. But, the film was put on hold since then.
