Peruvian Director Ricardo de Montreuil May Direct ‘Zorro Reborn’

After impressing Hollywood with a short film “The Raven,” Twentieth Century Fox is seriously considering the Peruvian director Ricardo de Montreuil to helm “Zorro Reborn.”

The film is set in the future, in which the masked hero is going to battle an evil villain and his minions. And, the setting will not take place in California or Mexico.

Last month, it was reported that actor Gael Garcia Bernal has been cast to play Zorro (“Casa de mi Padre,” “The Motorcycle Diaries”).

The “Zorro Reborn” script is originally written by Glenn Gers (“Fracture”). The writing team of Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy was brought in recently to rewrite the recent draft.

The producers will include Mark Amin, Cami Winikoff and Sobini Films’ David Higgins.

So what caught the eye of Twentieth Century Fox? Check out de Montreuil’s short film below.
