Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison to Remake ‘Summer School’

It’s back to school again.

Paramount Pictures has finally got somebody to remake the 1987 comedy “Summer School,” which starred Mark Harmon and Courtney Thorne-Smith.

Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions will produce the remake that was tried twice in the past ten years. In 2005, producer Jordan Kerner (“The Smurfs,” “Charlotte’s Web”) tried to produce one that featured a hard-nosed teacher against one mischievous student. And another attempt for a remake involved in 2010 with “Star Trek” producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orco that never came to fruition.

The original 1987 film was about a gym teacher who was forced to cancel his summer vacation plans to teach English to a group of underachieving students.

Sandler and Jack Giaraputo will be producers on the project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sandler will not star in the project and the production company will soon hire writers.
