Mark Wahlberg to Star in Universal Pictures’ ‘Disciple Program’

Universal Pictures purchased the rights to develop “The Disciple Program” with Mark Wahlberg to star and produce.

The pic will have Morten Tyldum (“Headhunters”) attached to direct from a script written by Tyler Marceca.

The film will be about a man investigating in the mysterious death of his wife, but the mystery turned out to be much more than he imagined.

The amateur script was deemed in the top 25 scripts with script reviewer Carson Reeves of Scriptshadow. A bidding war ensued for the rights to the script and even Warner Brothers Pictures at one point offered to attach Joel Silver as a producer and “The Hangover” actor Bradley Cooper to star in the project.
