In an interview with Los Angeles Times, Elton John confirmed the possible production of a biopic on the singer’s life and career.
“That’s very much in the works. We’re making an announcement about that very, very soon,” said John. “We have a director on board, and then it’s just going to be a matter of getting the script exactly the way we want it. Lee Hall has written a script—he wrote “Billy Elliot”—and then we’ll start trying to cast and plan.”
And who is on his wish list to play The Rocket Man? Justin Timberlake.
“I’ve got a wish list of people. Number one on my wish list is Justin Timberlake, because he played me before in a David LaChapelle video of ‘Rocket Man’ and was superb,” commented John.
It will not be the first time the singer’s life will be portrayed in a film. In 2007, the autobiography documentary “Elton John: Me, Myself & I” highlighted the singer’s reassessment of life after the death of his friend, Princess Diana. And next month, a Cameron Crowe-directed documentary on the making of the album “The Union” will be airing on HBO.
