Actor Christian Bale flew to Aurora, Colorado, to visit several victims of last week’s theater shooting. The actor visited patients at the Medical Center of Aurora who are under treatment for their injuries.
The actor spent a total of 2 ½ hours to meet five people at the hospital. Two other victims from the Swedish Medical Center also traveled there to meet Bale.
In addition, Bale and his wife Sibi Blazic, met the doctors, police officers and emergency medical technicians who were the first responders to that tragic event.
“I am probably one of the biggest Batman fans ever,” said Nurse Crystal Flateland to the Denver Post. “It was amazing, actually, to get to meet him. I think it’s really great he came here. It was touching.”
Bale did not want media, but got it anyways after people Tweeted photographs of him. The actor visited the victims on his own and not as an official representative from Warner Brothers Pictures.
“The Dark Knight Rises” movie studios themselves are also doing their part to help the victims.
Warner Brothers, Legendary Pictures and other donors have contributed nearly $2 million to create a special fund for the victims. The studios gave an undisclosed amount to GivingFirst.org fund.
And on another note, a special scholarship fund was set up as a memorial for Jessica Redfield (aka Jessica Ghawi). Redfield was an aspiring sports broadcaster and was one of the fatal victims of the Aurora theater shooting.
Her highly publicized story was due to that she escaped another shooting a month earlier that killed one person and wounded several others at a shopping mall in Toronto. She blogged about her near-death experience from that shooting.
The Jessica Redfield Sports Journalism Scholarship Fund will be used for another upcoming young aspiring sports talent to study journalism. On the site, the fund’s goal was to raise $20,000 and it already raised nearly $27,500 this week. You can click here to donate.
