According to Variety, negotiations may begin soon with Egerton to play the young spy next to Firth in the upcoming adaptation of “The Secret Service.â€
The site claimed director Matthew Vaughn considered “Kick-Ass†actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, but opted for a lesser known actor to be alongside Firth. Other actors in consideration were Jack O’Connell (“Unbrokenâ€) and John Boyega (“Attack the Blockâ€).
Egerton has a very limited acting history with a couple of episodes in the TV series “Inspector Lewis†and a short film called “Pop.â€
Now Vaughn and Twentieth Century Fox will look into the female co-star. The possibilities include Emma Watson (“Harry Potterâ€) and Bella Heathcote (“Dark Shadowsâ€). Actors Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio were both offered the villain role, but passed on the role.
“The Secret Service†is a comic series by Mark Millar and David Gibbons. Production is expected to start this fall.
