Massive Magneto Viral Marketing Site Goes Live

MagnetoThe viral marketing for X-Men: Days of Future Past has taken an enormous step. They’ve unveiled a website called The Bent Bullet which looks to insert itself into the current cultural awareness of the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. The site, done completely “in-character,” creates a multi-layered conspiracy that puts Erik Lehnsherr at the center of the plot to kill the President.

The production has created a vivid fictional history that weaves characters from the film into real-life history, including a provocative implication involving Mystique. At the site, you’ll find all kinds of nuggets, including fan service references to Trask Industries, a tour of Magneto’s prison cell, glimpses into his secret trial, and a video- narrated by the Dos Equis “Most Interesting Man In The World” guy! A lot of effort went into creating this in-depth piece of viral marketing. If you’re a fan, I suggest you take a few minutes to poke around the site. It’s very well-made, and gives you some insight into the film and its scope. It also serves as a way of subtly saying “This one isn’t a Wolverine movie,” to fans who’ve seemingly had enough of the X-Men films focused solely on Logan’s exploits. The site, and the story it presents, definitely implies that this film will definitely tie more into X-Men: First Class rather than director Bryan Singer’s first two X-Men films.

There’s a lot to enjoy here. Go on.
