Kevin Smith attended the Man of Steel Live Fan Event this weekend, and was treated to a glimpse of his pal, Ben Affleck, in the new bat suit. In his weekly podcast, Smith revealed that director Zack Snyder pulled him aside to show off some pictures he had on his phone. Smith's reaction? Read on:
"I saw the costume, more than that I saw him [Ben Affleck] in the costume...I don't want to give anything away cause that is up to them and stuff, but I am going to say this...I instantly bear hugged him. You have not seen this costume in film before. Because every other movie has done this matrixy black armor thing...There wasn't a single nipple on this [frick]ing suit man. I think everyone is gonna be like 'Holy Shit!' We haven't been down this path before. Even the Hardest core "[frick] this movie" person will be like 'alright, I'm ready!"
Smith was careful not to reveal much more, even going as far as to bleep out a word/name that could've spoiled details in his podcast:
"It seemed like it was very [BLEEP]-influenced."
The implication here is that it's definitely based off of a past book, or a well-known artist's take. Who, or what, do you think it will be? Frank Miller? Jim Lee? Alex Ross?
Are these strange drawings Zack Snyder revealed at the Fan Event any indication?
I'm guessing this all means we're finally going to get a more classic costume, with a gray and black, or gray and blue color scheme. What do you think, Fanboy Nation? Sound off!
