Deadline is reporting that actor Jason Clarke is in early talks to play John Connor, the leader of the human rebellion, in the upcoming reboot of Terminator (rumored to have the subtitle, Genesis). The actor would join Edward Furlong, Nick Stahl, and Christian Bale, as actors that have famously played the character on the big screen. Clarke has been on quite a tear lately, following his role in Kathryn Bigelow's super successful Zero Dark Thirty. The actor then appeared in The Great Gatsby, White House Down, and currently has six films in post-production- including Dawn of The Planet of The Apes.
At age 44, he would definitely be the most mature version of the character that we've seen to date, and this could offer some insight into the story they intend to tell with the new films. At this time, very little is known about the upcoming reboot, other than the fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to return to- once again- save Sarah Connor. Speaking of her, the murmurs surrounding Emilia Clarke's casting as the "mother of the revolution" continue to get louder. The Game of Thrones actress would join director Alan Taylor, who's also a Thrones alum, as he attempts to relaunch the film series- which lost its way with a pair of sequels that did little to add to the legacy created by James Cameron with the first two.
The film is slotted for a July 1, 2015 release.
