"The last scene we filmed together…
There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we've come…
Fast and Furious 7 will be released…
April 10th 2015!
P.s. He'd want you to know first…"
These words, along with the picture below, are how Vin Diesel broke the news of Fast & Furious 7's new release date on his Facebook page.
The mystery of FF7's fate has been resolved. With Walker's untimely death last month, the production's status went up in the air. But this news brings a finality to a whirlwind of speculation. The original release date was July 11, 2014- a date that Universal was once even willing to sacrifice its director to reach. But now it would appear they've figured out what they're going to do, and it sounds like they're just delaying production to re-tool the script.
I'll also go out on a limb and speculate that they're going to try and include as much of Walker's performance as possible, and I'm basing that on the tone of Diesel's post. One of the ideas floating around had been to go back to the beginning and start all over again with a new script that would write Walker's character out, but I now doubt that will be the case.
Fast & Furious 7 is set to see the bulk of its core cast return for more high-octane action, now with the added firepower of Jason Statham and Kurt Russell. The core plot will likely still revolve around Statham's Ian Shaw seeking revenge for what happened to his little brother in Fast & Furious 6.
