CinemaCon 2014: 30 Minutes of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Footage Shown

Spider-Man Promo 5It was an electrifying presentation.

Sony Pictures concluded their presentation at CinemaCon with 30 minutes of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” footage to the audiences.

However, it may be the same footage that certain audiences have witnessed nearly two weeks ago.

Our Latino-Review’s reporter Mario-Francisco Robles first reported the footage here. Click on the link for SPOILER-FREE coverage of the 30 minutes of footage.

However, I will reveal spoilers here that I witnessed from CinemaCon. Ready?

SPOILER ALERT!!!!! Yes, SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

Here’s what I saw:

*The movie opens with Richard Parker (Campbell Scott) stealing lab info from Oscorp. He and Mary Parker (Embeth Davidtz) flees the city after dropping off Peter with his aunt and uncle. But, amidst a private jet flight—the parents get attacked by an Oscorp assassin.

*Spidey chases after Aleksi Sytsevich (Paul Giamatti) and a couple of goons. He saves the life of Max Dillon (Jamie Foxx) during the chase. Aleksi is trying to steal some radioactive materials from Oscorp for unknown reasons.

*Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield meets with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) at the park. Gwen reveals she plans to move away.

*Max Dillon is now Electro and is hungry for power. He travels to New York’s Time Square for power, but Spider-Man tries to stop him. Electro is very scared, confused and apologetic until a sniper cop shoots him. Then Electro goes berserk and Spider-Man tries to stop him.

*Electro is in a special prison that prevents him from using his powers. Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) explains to Electro that he needs him and can help to seek revenge on Spidey. Soldiers arrive to stop Harry from freeing Electro, but Harry gave Electro some power with a taser. Electro bursts out of his special prison device and fries all the soldiers.

I’m in agreement with our earlier report, the visual effects are pretty good as I previewed it in 3D. There’s a plenty of action and fun to watch Electro destroy Times Square. It goes on with more back story of Peter Parker with his parents and shows a twist in the relationship with Gwen Stacy. As for the bad guys, they look like a fun group and crazy villains. If this movie is a precursor for a “Sinister Six” movie, then I say bring it on!

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will be in theaters on May 2nd.
