CinemaCon 2014: First Footage of Disney’s Live-Action ‘Cinderella Movie’

Cinderella-previewSimply gorgeous.

Walt Disney Studios presented some first look footage of its live-action movie version of “Cinderella” at CinemaCon this week. In this version, Lily James plays Cinderella with Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine and Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother.

One of the most revealing things about the footage is that the live-action film will not have playful sing-along songs like its cartoon predecessor.

There are animated mice, but it didn’t seem to speak in the footage. There is a wonderful magical scene turning a pumpkin into a carriage. The best part of the footage is with the various costumes shown in the footage—especially at the royal ball.

The storyline delves deeper into Cinderella’s background, including a little backstory of her parents and who gave her the name Cinderella. Director Kenneth Branagh may have successfully turned this classic fairytale into a beautiful romantic film.

“Cinderella” will be in theaters on March 13, 2015.
