5 Things You Need To Know From Star Wars Celebration Europe

Star Wars Celebration Europe is now officially over and everyone can start counting down the time until Star Wars Celebration Orlando begins.  Before we get to next year hear are the top 5 most important things to come out of SWCE.

1. Star Wars Rogue One is not a traditional Star Wars movie

It is safe to say with the trailer, sizzle reel, and an interview from the cast is that this movie does not have a happy ending to it.  Expect a lot of casualties in this movie.  A lot more speculation has come about since the panel for Rogue One finished.  The biggest buzz came from Mads Mikkelson who confirmed that he is playing Galen who is Jyn Erso’s father.  He also revealed that his character is a scientist who has created something that was initially to be beautiful and amazing.  So now it starting to make sense that Jyn is chosen to get the Death Star Plans because he father was the architect behind it.

2. Star Wars Episode VIII Update.

While most people thought that there would be some teaser or clip from Episode 8, it did not come to fruition.  Director Rian Johnson did give a little insider news about the next chapter of the saga.  Episode 8 will be influenced by 6 different movies with director Rian Johnson saying that Twelve O’Clock High (1949) had the biggest influence out of all.  The other movies listed were The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957), Three Outlaw Samurai (1964), Letter Never Sent (1960),  Gunga Din (1939), and Sahara (1943).  All of these movies share a theme of War, Survival, and Redemption.

3. Grand Admiral Thrawn is now officially cannon in the Star Wars Timeline

A popular character from the 1990’s Star Wars novel Heir To The Empire is now being brought into the animated series Star Wars Rebels.  With a lot of the Star Wars stories from the late 80’s and 90’s being wiped from the timeline Thrawn was one of the main characters that fans were most upset about being gone.  Thrawn is considered one of the few in the Empire to be able to stand up to Vader and challenge his authority.  When the Season 3 trailer debuted with the appearance of Thrawn a lot of the older fans in the crowd got really excited.

4. Ahsoka Tano Still Lives!

After the controversial season finale on Star Wars Rebels many fans were left wondering what happened to Ahsoka after her confrontation with Vader.  Executive Producer Dave Filoni confirmed at two different panel’s that “it’s likely you might not have seen the last of Ahsoka Tana.”  With such an amazing turnout to the “Ahsoka’s Untold Tales” Dave explained that he originally wanted Ahsoka’s story to end their but with the response from fans he got afterwards he knew that Ahsoka would have to come back in some fashion.

5. We will finally get to play the Death Star Battle on Star Wars Battlefront

This weekend Hasbro and EA along with other toy companies got to show off some of the latest gadgets and toys fans will be able to collect in the next year.  The presentation that got the most buzz was EA’s reveal of the last DLC’s coming to Star Wars Battlefront.  Chewbacca and Bossk will be new playable characters, there will be a campaign incorporating a battle from Rogue One, and an aerial battle during the first Death Star battle.  EA did not give a ton of details but said they will all be ready by the holiday season.
