It would certainly appear that video game adaptations are starting to become a more credible form of filmmaking. We already know about the prestigious talent involved with the ASSASSIN'S CREED film coming out this year- names like Fassbender, Irons, Cotillard, and Kurzel adorn that production- and now THE DIVISION is getting some serious love. The adaptation, which can already tout Jake Gyllenhaal as its star, is about to reel in ZERO DARK THIRTY and THE HELP star Jessica Chastain.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, two-time Academy Award nominee Chastain is in talks to join the game-to-film adaptation. Ubisoft is currently putting an impressive package together before shopping the production to the studios- a method that paid off for them when Fox took on ASSASSIN'S CREED and Paramount snatched up a Tom Hardy-led SPLINTER CELL film from the video game shingle.
"The Division is set in a near future New York City in the aftermath of a smallpox pandemic; the player, who is an agent of the titular Strategic Homeland Division, commonly referred to as simply "The Division", is tasked with helping the Division rebuild its operations in Manhattan, investigating the nature of the outbreak and combating criminal activity in its wake."

No word yet on who Chastain is in talks to play, or who'll direct the film. As usual, keep it right here a LRM for any and all updates!
What do you think of Chastain joining THE DIVISION?
