Last week on Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. we learned a few important details which give us an informed outlook for the rest of the season. We already knew that the LMDs (Life Model Decoys) would be central to the second half of the season, but we now know that they will actually be the antagonistic force led by Dr. Radcliffe after his mind was poisoned by The Darkhold. The viewers also found out that the LMD of Agent May apparently has no idea that she is a LMD, and in the most recent preview of tonight's episode it is explained in great detail, along with Dr. Radcliffe's future ambitions.
This episode is called "The Patriot", and one can assume it will focus not just on the LMDs, but more on Jason O'Mara's character Jeffery Mace, The Patriot, who at one point in the comic lore took up the mantle of Captain America. Check out this trailer as well which shows an unlucky S.H.I.E.L.D. agent having a slight mishap in a Quinjet.
One can also surmise that this episode will feature Senator Nadeer as well, fresh off killing her brother (or so she thinks), in the name of eliminating Inhumans everywhere. We saw at the end of the last episode that her brother fell to to bottom of the ocean and was enveloped in a 2nd Inhuman cocoon. I have speculated, likely with fantasy of my own desires for the show, that this could be a different version of Taskmaster, as his first skill-set was enhanced reflexes and agility. I think that after season 3's demise of Grant Ward, and now with Ghost Rider gone for the impending future, that the show still needs a badass villain to keep people entertained, as I am not sure Dr. Radcliffe, LMDs, and Senator Nadeer can carry the show by themselves.
I still, very much so, enjoy the show, however I could see the series quickly going downhill if the creators do not introduce another element. Next weeks episode is called "Wake Up" and it appears to center on Agent May's awakening from a Propofol induced sleep by the hands of AIDA and Dr. Radcliffe, or I guess it is possible that the LMD May could be "waking up" and figuring out she is an android and decides to go with her original programming to protect S.H.I.E.L.D. In two weeks, the episode will be called "Hot Potato Soup" and your guess is as good as mine on that title's meaning.
Stay tuned tonight, and let's hear what you think of the episode after it airs! Do you like the story line so far this year? (Judging by the previous comments I think I know the answer to that.) Outside of Taskmaster, who would you like see come on board as either a hero or a villain?
