Alien: Covenant – New Prologue Shows What Shaw & David Have Been Up To Since Prometheus

When Prometheus hit theaters back in 2012, it disappointed a good number of people. Folks who had wanted the film to have hard-and-fast ties to the original Alien film were left wanting more, and those who wanted the film to stand completely alone were left holding plot threads that seem to point to that original film. While I thought the movie itself was entertaining enough, there is no doubt that it left a lot to be desired in terms of a satisfying ending.

However, as someone who wasn’t super attached to the idea of everything pointing back to Alien, I saw a real potential for this new franchise. Between Elizabeth Shaw and David the android, I saw the possibility for the sequels to tackle the further adventures of David and Shaw as they travel across the galaxy in search of the meaning of life.

Of course, given that this is a part of the Alien franchise, I should not have expected things to be as lighthearted as that. We know that David and Shaw will have a role to play in the upcoming Alien: Covenant, but it’s difficult to say just how MUCH of a role they will have. However, if you’re curious to see what happen immediately after the credits of Prometheus, we’ve got you covered. Fox has released a new prologue for the film that shows what David and Shaw did in the aftermath of Prometheus’ destruction.

At this point, it’s not quite clear if we can expect to see this in the film, but either way, I’m happy to see this hit the web. Given how director Ridley Scott seemed ready to throw everything and everyone from Prometheus out the window, I’m happy he was willing to actually give us an answer as to what happened to these characters. Given the track record of the franchise, I half expected them to only give us answers through dialogue or video recording — which aren’t nearly as satisfying.

What do you think of this new prologue? Let us know your thoughts down below!

Alien: Covenant hits theaters on May 19, 2017.
