‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ Gets Three More Chill-Inducing Teasers

If for some reason, the “American Horror Story” series has eluded you in these years, then there may be no better time to hop on board than with year’s hotel-themed season, aptly subtitled, “Hotel.” Each season of the series is standalone, with actors returning to play unrelated roles (a la director Sergio Leone), and with each season, the series seems to get more and more creative. FX has already released a couple of teasers, but today, they went on to release a few more of them.

Needless to say, the fact that “American Horror Story” is playing with the whole hotel theme is a great one. Hotels have always been a huge part of urban myths and culture, with stories of serial killers, disappearances, and dead bodies, it’s a subject that is primed to get picked apart by the folks over at FX.

Check them out the new teasers below!

The first teaser plays off a couple different fears. First is the whole body-in-the-mattress deal. It’s a longstanding urban myth, hotel guests finding dead bodies in their mattresses, but it has been proven more than once to be a real thing. The second fear is, of course, a creepy entity following you down the hallway. Admittedly, there would be fewer things scarier than seeing a body-mattress making its way toward you in some shady hotel corridor.

The second teaser is potentially the weakest and least creative of the trio. It takes the ever-popular horror trope of small children and tries to exploit it. While the security cam-esque shot, along with the crowding of the kids is a bit creepy, it’s all a bit too “been there, done that,” in its feel. Not to mention the fact that it doesn’t seem to fall in line too much with what most people would find scary in a hotel.

The final teaser is a bit of a change-up on an older one, where the audience looks through the peephole of a hotel door, only to see a creepy eye look back at us. All the while, some unsettling slurping noises go off in the background. It’s a simple idea done extremely well, but all the same, it’s not the most creative thing in the world.

“American Horror Story: Hotel” comes to FX on October 7, 2015.
