This October will see the triumphant return of every one of the CW’s fun DC series that include Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. Of course, the show that started this entire universe was none other than Arrow, a series that began as one man’s journey to save his city from the corrupt. Over the course of a few seasons, however, Arrow quickly devolved into a rather goofy show that became less about Oliver Queen’s mission than it did about him reacting to a bunch of otherworldly baddies rearing their ugly heads in Starling City.
Interest in the series has seemed to wane as time went on, with the show focusing too much on fitting itself into a larger world, and not enough on Oliver Queen’s original mission.
With Season 5, however, the executive producers have indicated that this will be a return to form for Oliver Queen. Instead of having him take on a magical being this season, he’ll be taking on Prometheus, a man who’s out for Oliver Queen’s blood for some unknown reason. Prometheus doesn’t have any powers, but if the few images we’ve seen of him recently are indication, he’s probably pretty good with a bow and arrow himself.
Given the impending season, the CW has decided to throw out a brand new poster, which I would argue hints at this new, grounded season.
Check it out below!
As you can see, the poster itself is rather simple, focusing solely on Oliver Queen. It even has the tagline: “His fight. His city. His legacy,†which I hope means he’ll be going more solo this time around. What’s more is the act that we’re looking up at him…from the ground. Yes, reading into that as an implication that this season will be more “grounded†is certainly a stretch, but I certainly hope that’s the case.
What do you think of this poster? Let us know in the comments down below!
Arrow Season 5 premieres on the CW on Wednesday, October 5 at 8/7c.
