Sunday night, the Golden Globe Awards were handed out and in attendance was the alluring actress Zoe Saldana, who plays Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we have a pretty good idea of who will be in Avengers: Infinity War, it's always newsworthy when an actor confirms a role, as Saldana was interviewed by MTV's Josh Horowitz and asked her thoughts on the Infinity War script.
“I don’t know when they’re going to let me see it [the script], I’m not looking forward to the five hours of green make up, but every time I arrive on set, I’m so happy and lucky to be there.”
That statement is confirmation enough for me, and yesterday IGN was able to squeeze a little more information out of her as she gives her thoughts on working with a different director and the direction of her character in Infinity War.
"I'm curious to see how they are going to portray us, but the good thing that keeps me relaxed is that these directors [Anthony and Joe Russo] are good. They have a really good pedigree. Their last movie [Captain America: Civil War] was... I liked it. I liked their choices. And everyone that worked with them really had a great experience. And James Gunn is a producer on it, so I know he won't ever let the integrity of what he's created for the Guardians ever become compromised. So I'm at ease. Plus, I love Marvel producers; they're all great; they all want us to win."
Anytime an actor gives praise to their boss, we must always take it with a grain of salt as few would actually come out slamming their money source and souring their name in the industry, but Saldana seems sincere and I have included both interviews at the bottom of the page so you can judge for yourself.
Avengers: Infinity War will be the most massive superhero movie we have ever seen in terms of talent, and I would imagine it to be a nightmare to get everyone's filming schedule in line. It is directed by the Russo brothers, Anthony & Joe, and the screenplay is based on Jack Kirby's comics and penned by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. There are also around 8 producers including Kevin Feige, John Favreau, Stan Lee, and apparently James Gunn as well. Listing all the superstar actors involved would take about an hour, so instead I will list a few of my favorites: Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America or maybe just Steve Rogers), Sebastian Stan (Bucky or maybe Captain America!), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), and introducing Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. Whew.
Are you happy that Gamora confirmed her role, furthermore, are you excited about this mega blockbuster in general? When Thanos finally gets out of the chair, do you think his lower back will hurt after he has been sitting... for eternity?
Avengers: Infinity Way is set to drop May 4th, 2018.
