What is Ben Affleck’s future in the DC Extended Universe? Despite is fantastic take on the Caped Crusaders in the films, he’s slowly been making his way towards the exit. It doesn’t sound like he’s any more sure of things now than he was before.

When asked by extratv whether or not he’d be playing Batman for a total of five films (with Justice League being his third outing), Affleck responded with:

“I don’t know about that. We’ll see what the future holds.”

Right now, we know that War for the Planet of the Apes director is hard at work on developing a standalone Batman film, and while we’d assume it would star Affleck, his recent cageyness made made it all one big question mark. Of course, it hasn’t helped that he initially was on board to direct a Batman film, but has since pulled out as both writer and director of the project. It seems like only a matter of time before he hops out of the role completely.

Will Justice League be his last outing as Batman? For some reason, we expect his involvement may end up hinging quite a bit on whether or not Justice League is viewed as a success.

When you are an A-list talent you take the big roles as a means of making money. If the role is panned than it takes away from your good standing. That could cost more than the payday further down the line.

maybe, I don’t know if it’s stopped Jack Nicolson since he started working for Roger Corman? And even now DeNiro seems to not flinch after Rocky and Bullwinkle (he produced) even though he can still transform into a character recently the Bernie Madoff film.

I think ‘some’ people just WANT Affleck to depart. That is WHY they continue to
spotlight even the TINIEST rumor of Affleck’s (possible) disenchantment with the role.

Personally…I think Affleck is the BEST thing that’s ever happened to the role (on screen).
His look and build as both Bruce Wayne AND Batman are a LEAP right off the pages of the
    comics. I hope he remains.

you have a point, he’s become a meme even before BvS started.

      WB don’t want him anymore.

Wes Bentley would make an excellent replacement as Bruce Wayne.
