One of the big surprises going into CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR was the reveal that Black Widow would be fighting alongside Team Iron Man. While she'd only met Steve Rogers as recently as the first AVENGERS film, the two got a lot closer when they want on the run from S.H.I.E.L.D. in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. More than any other pair in the MCU, I saw these two as a fiercely loyal duo.
Needless to say, when it came to see the movie, there would be some kind of addressing the fact that those two ended up on the opposite side of the same conflict, and that's exactly what we got in the film. In a new video released from storyboard artist Darrin Dellinger, we got an alternate take on that confrontation between the two.

SPOILER ALERT if you haven't seen the film!
As you can see in the clip, in this version of the fight, Black Widow doesn't go rogue on her own team, but instead actually puts up a bit of a fight against Cap himself. The scene as drawn does an admirable job at giving a hesitance to the conflict, and Cap making sure Natasha had her gear on before throwing her over the side was a nice touch. That being said, it's clear why this was changed. By the scene's end, Natasha is still Team Iron Man. For those of us who remember THE WINTER SOLDIER fondly, her betrayal against Iron Man is something that certainly rang true and gave audiences a collective sigh of relief. Sure we wanted to see the Avengers fight, but I didn't want to see those two fight.
