"Warcraft" is a film that's a long time in the making.
Based on the hit video game of the same name, it's a film that promises to be epic in scope, and filled to the brim with groundbreaking visual effects. Yesterday, it was confirmed that the film would have its first official trailer this Friday, but big studios nowadays always try and take the opportunity to throw in teasers whenever possible. The first of (probably) a few teasers has officially hit the web, and it's about fifteen seconds long.

Anticipation for this film going into this year's San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year was at an all-time high, though unfortunately, the footage shown there seemed to only underwhelm the audience. While the visual effects were deemed top notch, some of the press felt that it seemed to make the film seem cold and distant--not unlike how the CG orcs and trolls in "The Hobbit" did.
To top it all off, the non-"Warcraft" fans seemed content to write off the flick as another fantasy movie too caught up in its world-building to give audiences something real to latch onto. Did it look cool? Absolutely. But to the non-initiated, it looked like something ripped out of a cutscene of a video game. Hopefully, in the months since Comic-Con, the filmmakers have taken notice and worked to make the necessary changes to ensure that this one is a hit. After nearly a decade of the film being in the making, we want to know that it's as good of a movie as it can be.
The official synopsis for "Warcraft" is as follows:
"The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.
So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something."
"Warcraft" is Directed by Duncan Jones ('Moon,' 'Source Code') and written by Charles Leavitt and Jones, the film stars Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Rob Kazinsky and Daniel Wu.
