Last season, Sabrina Spellman went toe-to-toe with the Dark Lord himself, successfully saving the Church of Night, Greendale, and all of humanity from the coming Armageddon. Now—given the promise she made to her friends to rescue her boyfriend—it seems Sabrina may be reunited with her latest foe when the series delves deep into the fiery depths.

During a press tour for the Television Critics Association, Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa gave The Wrap a little insight on what’s to come:

“I think it’s safe to say that we are going to Hell, yes. We’re going to Hell. It’s very fun. It’s very fun. It’s dangerous, but it’s really fun.”

While the series made its debut on Netflix in 2018, just in time for Halloween, Aguirre-Sacasa doesn’t believe the new season will premiere in time for Halloween this year. “I don’t actually know. I don’t think we’d be ready for Halloween. I have no idea, not a clue,” he explained. However, the third season is well into production and the creator is very pleased so far with what they’ve done:

“We are writing Episode 8, we are starting to shoot Episode 6, so we’re nearing the halfway mark. And that’s been going great, I’m really proud of those episodes, they’re really, really fun.”

Before the Netflix series, Aguirre-Sacasa created the Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina comic book trade, which presented a darker 60s era reimagining of Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. The series adaptation—which exists in the same universe as CW’s Riverdale but has the creative freedom of Netflix—is a fun blend of tongue-and-cheek humor and haunting spectacle. Filled with Satanic practices, witchcraft, and satirical portrayals of religion all while telling a fun, horror-themed mystery-adventure, part three is bound to ramp things up as our favorite half-human, half-witch ventures into the inferno of Hell.
