Chris Evans: ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Not Focused on Avengers

As per the title, “Captain America: Civil War” should be about Steve Rogers as Captain America.

However, with the cast that summons nearly every member of the Avengers, people may look at it as the next installment of an Avengers movie.

“Even though there are a lot characters, the focus is on Steve and his struggle,” Evans told D23 Magazine in an interview. “Especially his struggle with Tony Stark.”

Marketing promotion already pits two sides into this civil war battle and allowing loyal fans to choose their favorite side. Iron Man has a strong following with Black Widow, War Machine, Black Panther and Vision. Captain America has a loyal team with Winter Soldier, Falcon, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Ant-Man. Let us not forget that Spider-Man will be in the mix somewhere too. It’ll be the ultimate clash of superheroes.

“It’s exciting to see a guy who’s as optimistic and as selfless as Steve be met with letdown, betrayal, frustration, and selfishness,” said Evans. “There are events and people in his life that test him — that challenge him and force him to reevaluate who he is and what he wants out of life.”

With Joe and Anthony Russo at the helm, it makes the film as one of the more anticipated comic book films this year. The movie will be in theaters on May 6.
