Christian Bale Now the Frontrunner as ‘Steve Jobs’

Sony’s initial plans to get Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t come true, but their backup choice isn’t too shabby.

Several sources told The Hollywood Reporter negotiations have started with actor Christian Bale to play Steve Jobs, the late Apple Computer co-founder.

THR wrote that the move came after Bale’s negotiations to star in Fox’s “The Deep Blue Goodbye” stalled a bit due to an option for a sequel. But, the trade publication indicated if Bale jumps on board as Steve Jobs—it may shoot before Fox’s “The Deep Blue Goodbye.”

Danny Boyle will direct the untitled Steve Jobs movie, which once had David Fincher attached to direct. The story is based on Walter Isaacson’s book and adapted by Aaron Sorkin. Fincher left the project back in April due to compensation and over control of the production.

Other actors mentioned possibly in the past included Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Bradley Cooper.
