Chyler Leigh and David Harewood Join Cast of ‘Supergirl’ TV Show

Oscar audience may not like comic book entertainment, but the mainstream audience definitely does.

CBS’ “Supergirl” is moving forward with the announcement of actress Chyler Leigh (“Grey’s Anatomy” and David Harewood (“Homeland”) joining the cast.

In additional, Andrew Kreisberg (“The Flash,” “Arrow”) also boarded the project as a writer and executive producer. Director Glen Winter (“The Flash,” “Arrow”) announced via Twitter he will be helming the pilot for the show.

Harewood will have the regular role on the show as Hank Henshaw. The show will have the character as a former CIA agent who now runs the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO) seeking extraterrestrial lifeforms and threats on earth. As for Leigh, she will be a regular as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, the foster sister to Kara.

The show revolves around Kara, who escaped from Krypton’s destruction and was adopted as a foster child by the Danvers family. She shares the same powers as her cousin, Superman, as she learns to control those powers. Kara/Supergirl will be played by Melissa Benoist (“Glee,” “Whiplash”).
