CinemaCon 2016: Trey Parker to Voice New Villain in ‘DESPICABLE ME 3’ and First Look Image

Gru has a new villain.

And he’s a resentful former child star.

At CinemaCon 2016 this week, it was announced Trey Parker (SOUTH PARK, BASEKETBALL) will voice the new villain named Balthazar Bratt.

The character has an extreme obsession with the 80s, especially with the clothing and music. At the convention, Illumination Entertainment played an animation test video of the character dancing to various 80s songs. And he definitely has all the dance moves.

For Parker, it will be his first voicing project that he does not direct.

Additionally, the animation studio introduced Dru, Gru’s identical twin brother. Dru is described as the complete polar opposite of Gru being nice and caring. Not to mention that Dru likes to wear white and has blonde hair.

Steve Carrell will be voicing both brothers for the third installment.

DESPICABLE ME 3 will be directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda with co-directing credits for Eric Guillon. It will be in theaters on June 30, 2017.
