George Clooney and The Coen Brothers sure do love working together. Not only has the actor appeared in four films directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, but now his next directing gig is going to be written by them. It was announced some time ago that the trio was working on a film called SUBURBICON. Well, the production is picking up steam and has now added A-list talent like Matt Damon and Julianne Moore to its cast. That’s not all, but we now know some of the plot details for the upcoming dark dramedy.
According to The Wrap: “When a home invasion turns deadly, a picture-perfect family turns to blackmail, revenge and betrayal.” Set in the fictitious town of Suburbicon, the film will take a darkly humorous look at what seemingly ordinary people are capable of when the context is just right.
This will be Clooney’s first directing gig since the underwhelming THE MONUMENTS MEN, which was the first real blemish on the actor-turned-director’s track record behind the camera. His other films include CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND, GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK, LEATHERHEADS, and THE IDES OF MARCH.
This will also mark the latest entry in Clooney and Damon’s laundry list of collaborations.
