Costume Details For Rey and Luke in 'STAR WARS EPISODE VIII' Revealed!

– by Joseph Medina

STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII is over a year and a half away, but we already got some costume details for Rey and Luke, courtesy of the Making Star Wars podcast, NOW THIS IS PODCASTING, as well as a follow-up post from the site proper.

First, let's take a look at how our main gal and guy looked in THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Oh yeah, and if you haven't seen that film yet, SPOILER ALERT.

According to the podcast, Rey's outfit -- at least for a portion of the film -- will look a lot like it did when we last left her at the end of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. In that closing scene, she was wearing capri-length pants, boots, and arm-wraps. She will mostly look the same, except she will be without her vest (pictured above). They also note that the gun Han gave her will remain strapped to her hip. She and Han hit it off pretty well in the previous film, so while there plenty of practical reasons she would keep a gun on her, it can also be seen as a way to stay attached to someone she saw as a father figure. But that's just speculation. In addition to be something of a memento for Rey, it's potentially one last bit of Han (apart from the Falcon) that fans will get to see on screen from this point forward.

Luke's outfit is a lot more different from his previous outing. First of all, his outfit will be darker, and the outlet compares it to his outfit in RETURN OF THE JEDI, pictured below.

The post goes on to describe his outfit as follows:

His undertunic reminds me of Count Dooku but his very dark grey cape drops over the top of his shoulders and chest like a shawl. This leaves his right arm free but half of his chest covered by the cape. It’s almost similar to the asymmetrical cut of Captain Phasma’s cape, but more like a shawl in the way it cover his chest.

The post was later updated with what looks like a mockup from one of their readers. One can assume it's an accurate representation of the costume since they proceeded to post it on their site.

Check it out below.
