D23 Expo 2015: Songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez to Compose for Animated Film ‘Gigantic’

Huge news indeed.

Oscar-winning songwriting couple Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez came on stage at D23 Expo 2015 along with director Nathan Greno (“Tangled”) and producer Dorothy McKim (“Get a Horse!”) to introduce “Gigantic.”

This will be Walt Disney Animation Studio’s take on the classic tale of “Jack and the Beanstalk.”

The film is set during Spain’s Age of Exploration, as adventure-seeker Jack discovers the world of giants within the clouds. He hatches a grand plan with Inma, a 60-foot-tall, 11-year-old girl, and agrees to help her find her way home. But he doesn’t account for her super-sized personality—and who knew giants were so down to earth?

The award-winner songwriters brought us many fan favorite songs from “Frozen,” including “Let it Go,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman” and “For the First Time in Forever.” So do expect several addicting songs that your children will sing along for a year.

Until then, “Gigantic” will hit U.S. theaters in 2018.
