Damon Lindelof Doesn’t Think We Should Trust Superheroes

Damon Lindelof, who was a showrunner on one of my favorite shows of all time, that being LOST (if you thought season 6 was bad, give it another try, it does make sense!), will be adapting the fan favorite graphic novel Watchmen into a television series for HBO. Lindelof recently spoke at the Vulture Festival L.A., and had some interesting thoughts on our masked heroes:

“What we think about superheroes is wrong. I love the Marvel movies and we saw Justice League this morning and I’m all for Wonder Woman and Batman and I grew up on these characters, but we should not trust people who put on masks and say that they are looking out for us. If you hide your face, you are up to no good.”

I can’t say that I agree with Lindelof, but I will say that it is an interesting point of view, and makes me want to watch his take on Watchmen even more. While aliases, secret identities, and by extension masks, have always been a part of comics and superheroes, many Marvel characters, while wearing masks, aren’t wearing them to hide there identities.

As far as the superhero world, not all who wear masks are bad, remember Mr. Lindelof, only a Sith deals in absolutes.

Did anyone care who you were before you put on the mask? Let us know in the comments down below!
