David S. Pumpkins Is His Own Thing In Clip From Animated Special

Who’d’ve thought that a stupid Saturday Night Live sketch called “David S. Pumpkins” would actually warrant its own animated special? Definitely not actor Tom Hanks, who has expressed his befuddlement over the sketch’s popularity.

Whether you want it or not, this animated special is happening, and a few days before its premiere on NBC, SNL has released a first clip. Check it out above!

In the clip, we see an elevator rise from the ground in front of a brother and sister. Pumpkins pretty much says his trademark lines and then announces that, thanks to the pumpkin they picked, he belongs to the kids for Halloween.

On the whole, it’s not the greatest little clip. As fun as the original sketch was, it wasn’t nearly long enough to overstay its welcome. With this clip (which is set to be 30 minutes long), there’s real opportunity for David S. Pumpkins to overstay his welcome. What’s more, all this clip does is have him say the lines we already know. It comes across as nothing more than cheap fanservice.

But, we’ll reserve our judgment until the actual special hits. What do you think of this clip? Let us know down below!
