DC Universe Gives Us Our First Look At Swamp Thing

It’s been an interesting couple of hours for DC Universe’s live action Swamp Thing series. Last night reports started coming in that the show was being put on hold indefinitely as the creative team was scrambling to re-write the ending to the series in a shortened ten episode first season. Rumors had been that this was because of WarnerMedia wanting to re-asses the role of the entire DC Universe streaming service. With that said there were a lot questions about the direction of the series as well as if this meant there would be a delay in it’s released.

Well for a bit of good news, this morning DC Universe has released the first official Swamp Thing teaser, which provided us we two things. First off we learned that the projected released date of May 31st of this year was still intact. Second was that we got our first look at the main character of the series, Swamp Thing. Check it out in the clip above!

Without a doubt this sets a very dark tone for the series. I can’t wait to see more of the creature as well as the rest of the cast. It will be interesting to see how much more they reveal in the next few days to maybe reassure DC Universe subscribers that the series is still OK.

Here is the synopsis for Swamp Thing:
When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

The series stars Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Maria Sten as Liz, Henderson Wade as Matt Cable, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, Jennifer Beals as an original character created for the series, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Kevin Durand as Jason Woodrue, Ian Ziering as Blue Devil, and Derek Mears as Swamp Thing.
