Outside of technical categories, for example The Avengers getting nominated for Best Visual Effects, no Marvel film has been nominated for a legitimate category at the Oscars and of course no Marvel movie has ever won. Actually, the most notable win comes from a DC movie, and that would be Heath Ledger’s posthumous win for Best Supporting Actor portraying The Joker in The Dark Knight.
The chance that Deadpool could get nominated all stems from the fact that it was selected by the PGA (Producer’s Guild of America) for Best Picture, Deadpool was nominated for 2 Golden Globes, also one of them for Best Picture (for a comedy or musical), and Tim Miller was nominated for a Director’s Guild Award.
Face the facts, Deadpool will not win a Best Picture Oscar, but even getting nominated would be huge, and it would vault Deadpool to the most prestigious Marvel movie ever created.
“Hold onto your chimichangas, folks. From the studio that brought you all 3 Taken films comes DEADPOOL, the block-busting, fourth-wall-breaking masterpiece about Marvel Comics’ sexiest anti-hero: me! Go deep inside my origin story…typical stuff…rogue experiment, accelerated healing powers, horrible disfigurement, red spandex, imminent revenge. Directed by overpaid tool Tim Miller, and starring God’s perfect idiot Ryan Reynolds, Ed Skrein, Morena Baccarin, T. J. Miller and Gina Carano, DEADPOOL is a giddy slice of awesomeness packed with more twists than my enemies’ intestines and more action than prom night. Amazeballs!”
