‘DOCTOR STRANGE’ Filming Ends, New Set Photos Show Villain

Looks like the 14th film in the Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is now in the can. DOCTOR STRANGE, a film that promises to be one of the studio’s most ambitious and, dare I say it, strange flicks to date, has just finished filming, as was revealed in a recent Twitter post from the film’s director, Scott Derrickson.

Though don’t think the production got away before fans could snap any more on-set shots. Last weekend, we got to see a number of shots of Benedict Cumberbatch andChiwetel Ejiofor in full costume, and thanks to the Mads Mikkelsen fan site Mads Mikkelsen Source, we now have shots of the actor playing a mysterious villain. Check them out below!

I, for one, am happy with this reveal. While there wasn’t much question as to whether or not Mikkelsen would play a villain (doesn’t he always?), it’s comforting to know that the film may not play the Baron Mordo card right away. Marvel has a history of terrible villains, and with THOR: RAGNAROK approaching, we may be seeing the last of Loki — who is unquestionably the most interesting Marvel villain to date. With the casting of Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo — a character in the comics who is revealed to be a villain — it seemed like they were primed to have another longterm villain for Doctor Strange. Here’s hoping that they’ll hold out in revealing him as a villain as late as possible so that he may be a future threat, rather than an instant one.

But who do you think Mikkelsen is playing? These shots obviously don’t include any visual effects that will undoubtedly be used, so it’s a bit hard to tell, but if this writer were to judge, I’d say perhaps Nightmare, and that’s mostly based on the white hair. Check out a photo of the character:

What do you think of the photos? Who do you think Mads Mikkelsen is playing? Let us know in the comments down below!

DOCTOR STRANGE hits U.S. theaters on November 4, 2016.
