Fresh off a Golden Globes win for Atlanta, and with the future in his hands, Donald Glover gives us his thoughts on playing a younger version of the iconic Lando Calrissian.
While talking to USA Today he discusses his preparations on filling the shoes of Billy Dee Williams, the original actor of the smooth-talking Lando, and his desire of creating a character of peak physical fitness.
“Not getting to eat anything enjoyable for the rest of my life, Lando’s a big deal to me. It was literally the first toy I ever got. When you have something that’s kind of iconic … where people pay attention to it, it’s hard because you want to live up to the expectation. But all you can do is live up to your own. And Star Wars is really high. I really just want to have fun. The directors: (Christopher Miller and Phil Lord), they’re amazing. I love the guy who is playing Han (Alden Ehrenreich). It’s going to be a good time. It’s going to be fun. I’m getting ready to just have fun with those guys.”
In addition, Glover had some thoughts about his love of Star Wars which he shared with Variety on the red carpet of the Golden Globes. Check out the video below!
"I feel honored to have it."
The cast also features, as Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!) an interesting young actor, Woody Harrelson as the mentor of young solo, and everyone's favorite mother of dragons, Emilia Clarke. MakingStarWars is reporting that some of the film will shoot in Spain’s Fuerteventura, part of the Canary Islands, and other parts of the movie may be filmed in Italy. The epic is scheduled to start shooting around February 2017.
So, I am pretty high on Donald Glover right now, and I truly believe he will be an amazing Lando. What do the readers think? Could an actor be better suited for Lando, and if so, who? Will Glover do a good job protraying Calrissian?
