Donnie Yen, Ludi Lin Rumored For Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi

While we’re all looking forward to revisiting some of our favorite characters in the impending fourth Phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’re also very much looking forward to seeing some other new characters get the big screen treatment along the way. One property we know is in the works over at Marvel Studios is that of Shang-Chi, one that will help usher in more diversity in an ever-growing world.

Now it sounds like Marvel Studios is knee-deep in the casting process, and according to That Hashtag Show, we have a couple promising actors on the shortlist. First up is for Shang-Chi himself. One name that’s popped up is Ludi Lin, who you may remember as the Black Ranger in the Power Rangers reboot a couple of years back. It’s not clear if he’s a favorite, but either way, we will likely hear other actors int he mix in weeks to come. Apparently, his desire to take on the role along with his martial arts background have at least put him on Kevin Feige’s radar. One other actor who’s expected to meet with Marvel is Ross Butler, who recently starred in Riverdale and Shazam!

One other interesting rumor comes for a supporting character. The outlet states that Marvel Studios hopes to meet with Hong Kong martial artist Donnie Yen for a potential role. Given that yen has worked with Disney in the past with films like Rogue One, it’s not an unlikely prospect. But role could it be? Some are thinking the Mandarin.
