Dwayne Johnson Rumored To Play A Monster From Universal’s Dark Universe

In the last twenty four hours we have heard a lot of concerning news about Universal Picture’s Dark Universe. Like the fact that The Mummy starring Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis and Russell Crow is projected to make around $40 million dollars domestically. Hardly the figures that you would want to see if you are kicking off an entire universe. Then there was the news about issues with the name “Dark Universe”. Warner Bros. is thinking about taking legal action against Universal as they already had plans for the name using the supernatural heroes that in comic books form the Justice League Dark. This is definitely not the kick off that Universal Pictures wanted for their franchise that they are trying to resurrect.

But even with all these bad breaks, Universal Pictures has announced some of the films it intends to release featuring such actors like Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man, Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll and Javier Bardem as Frankenstein’s Monster. Thanks to some information from The Hollywood Reporter, there is news that Dwayne Johnson may be in the running star in the Wolfman reboot. Johnson had previously played a role in Universal’s Monsterverse in The Mummy Returns back in 2001 as the Scorpion King. A year later he reprised his role as the Scorpion King in his own film. His latest film in theaters Paramount’s Baywatch did not do very well during Memorial Day weekend, only making $22 million dollars domestically. He is currently filming Rampage from New Line Cinema and is in post-production with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Not to mention the role as Black Adam for a DC film that is unknown at the moment.

I could go on and on about the roles that Dwayne Johnson is either rumored to be playing or roles that he has already confirmed. I have enjoyed several of Johnson’s films but for the iconic Wolfman I would prefer to see another actor take on the role as I am tiered of seeing Johnson in every other film. I think that thanks to all the pressure that is being put on Universal Pictures to succeed they are going after big name actors and actresses for their films. Such is the case for Tom Cruise who still has a huge fan base in so many countries. Johnson is another one of those actors that by name alone is able to fill up theaters so I don’t blame them for trying to recruit him back to the Monsterverse. What do you guys think? Would he be a good fit as the Wolfman? Also, how do you feel about the amount of films Dwayne Johnson takes on now a days? Chime in Below!
