Ezra Miller is an extremely talented actor. I first saw him in this little indie film, City Island, with Andy Garcia back in ’09 and I just knew “that kid’s going to be a star.” I had a similar feeling many moons ago, when I saw Primal Fear and thought, “The world better keep an eye on this Edward Norton guy.” I’ll admit, I haven’t seen any of his films since- mainly because they just don’t interest me. But I’m sure his work has been stellar in them. It would appear Zack Snyder agrees with me that this guy’s got “it.” According to Miller, Snyder handpicked him to play the cinematic version of DC’s The Flash without even auditioning him.
In a talk with MTV, Miller recounts how he was basically minding his own business on vacation in Costa Rica, when he received a call that would change his life.
“I get this call and I’m thinking, ‘This is really weird,’†the actor recalls. He was in a remote, landlocked town in Costa Rica and didn’t even think his phone had service there. Turns out the call was from his agent. “He says, ‘I have Zack Snyder on the phone, and he wants to talk to you about this DC Universe thing,’†Miller recalled. “And so [Snyder] got on the phone, and he’s just gung ho. He’s in it. He’s completely involved. And he starts talking about how I’m going to play The Flash. And I was just in this state of shock and disbelief.”
Just like that, he’s now set to play one of DC’s most well-known characters, in films ranging from Justice League to his own solo adventure(s). From indie, YA poster child to the face of his own comic book superhero franchise…in a flash.
