A small group of actresses were invited by 20th Century Fox to test as the female lead alongside Ryan Reynolds in “Deadpool.” And it’s a great pool of actresses.

Deadline reported the following actresses, including Morena Baccarin (“Homeland,” “Firefly”), Taylor Schilling (“Orange is the New Black”), Crystal Reed (“Teen Wolf,” “Crush”), Rebecca Rittenhouse (“The Red Band Society”), Sarah Greene (“Vikings”) and Jessica De Gouw (“Arrow,” “Deadline Gallipoli”).

Reynolds will reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool since the 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” The film will be helmed by Tim Miller, who had done visual effects work through Blur Films. The script is written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

“Deadline” is set for release next year in February.
