Given the weight and importance of the upcoming standalone Wolverine film, Logan — which will mark Hugh Jackman’s final time playing the clawed mutant — there really hasn’t been an overabundance of marketing surrounding the flick. Sure, there have been a series of images on the official Instagram, but we’ve only had one actual trailer for the film thus far (two if you count the red band, which really only had one key shot difference).
Logan is only about a month and a half away from its release, and as such, you’d be right to expect another trailer in the next few weeks. In fact, according to Fox Taiwan (via Trailer Track), we’ll be seeing a new trailer for the flick on January 19 — this Thursday! The report went on to say that the trailer will be 2 minutes and 21 seconds in length, and that there are actually TWO of them, of similar length.
Given that the first trailer had two near-identical cuts, there’s a good chance this will be the same case for those two versions. However, one interesting note here is that the German FSK has rated both of the versions as the equivalent of “green band,” which seems to indicate otherwise. If both are green band, then will there really be reason to release both of them? And if they do, will they go forward and give one the red band classification once it hits the states? We’ll have to wait and see on that one.
The official synopsis for Logan is as follows:
"In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces."
