Founding Member Of The Legion Of Super-Heroes Joins Supergirl In Season 3

Last season on both CW’s The Flash and Supergirl there was a great Legion of Super-Heroes Easter Egg. During Barry’s trip through the speed force and Kara’s trip to Superman’s Fortress of Solitude there was a brief glimpse of a Legion of Super-Heroes ring found in Superman’s collection of relics. With Season 3 of Supergirl set to debut in a few weeks, we now have confirmation of the casting of a super hero that makes that scene seem like more than just Easter Eggs, but maybe a tease of characters to come.

Variety is reporting that Saturn Girl is headed to the third Season of Supergirl. She will be played by actress Amy Jackson, a Bollywood actress who will be making her U.S. debut. She is managed by Silver Lining Entertainment and Blacksheep Management in the U.K. This isn’t Saturn Girl’s first appearance on television, as she was also featured in Smallville during it’s eight Season and was played by Alexz Johnson. She joins a ever growing cast which include Adrian Pasdar as Morgan Edge, Carl Lumbly as M’yrnn J’onzz, Yael Grobglas as Psi, and Odette Annable as Reign.

Saturn Girl aka Imra Ardeen is a telepath from her home world of Titan, which is the largest moon of the Planet Saturn. She is the founding member of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 30th and 31st century and first appeared in comics in DC’s Adventure Comics #247 in April 1958. She was created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino. One interesting note is that Saturn Girl was the first female character to lead a super hero team in comic book history.

Looks like Saturn Girl will be joining Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl just in time to help her defeat one of her biggest threats. The question is will her presence be enough? Or could this be an opening for some of the other Legion of Super-Heroes like Cosmic Boy and Lighting Boy? Also is there a connection between the ring in Superman’s possession and her arrival? We’ll just have to wait and see in the third Season of Supergirl. What are your thoughts on the casting and character in general? Comment Below!

Supergirl returns to action the CW October 9th.
