With so much of the focus lately going to the DCEU's latest, BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, and the MCU's next, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, sometimes it seems like people forget the XCU is getting set to follow up DEADPOOL in May with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.
The film, which once again finds Bryan Singer- the man who launched the franchise- in the director's chair, looks to make its own mark on the superhero landscape when it arrives in theaters three weeks after CIVIL WAR. One area where it'll compete directly with Cap and Friends is on IMAX screens, as the film will try to shove CIVIL WAR out of the way to make room for its massive mutant battles.
Fox has begun the hype for its X-MEN: APOCALYPSE IMAX screenings with this special poster:
The poster features a combination of new and classic elements from the X-MEN franchise. We've got James McAvoy, finally in full Patrick Stewart/Professor X mode; There's new versions of fan-favorite characters like Storm, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Angel, Psylocke, and Jean Grey; A prominently featured Quicksilver, who was a big hit in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST; Megastars Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence reprising the roles they took before they were household names; And there's the new big baddie: Oscar Isaac's Apocalypse looming large.
Definitely a little something for everyone here.
What do you think? Will you make it to the X-MEN: APOCALYPSE leg of this February thru May Superhero Marathon? Or are you going to sit this one out and wait for SUICIDE SQUAD in August or DOCTOR STRANGE in November? Or...are you gonna hunker down and see all of them? Discuss!
