When last we saw the character Crossbones in the MCU, he blew himself up in hopes of taking Captain America out with him. Too bad for him that Scarlet Witch came by and stopped it from doing damage, and he died in vain.

When asked by Syfy if there was another character he’d want to play, actor Frank Grillo said:

“I’m still interested in Crossbones. Who knows? I mean, yeah, he was blown up, but they’re comic book movies, so…Hopefully down the road somewhere Crossbones comes back, which wouldn’t be out of the question. I mean, I don’t know when. It would be cool to do that. I would like to explore more of that. “Other than that, I would just maybe take [Jeremy] Renner’s bows and arrows away. I mean, that seems the easiest thing to do.”

Here’s what we gather from this: nothing. In fact, this quote has the exact opposite effect of getting us excited. Last month, when speaking to Forbes, Grillo stated that there was some news about his character that nobody knew about. Now it just seems like more wishful thinking than anything else, which is a shame.
