Ghostbusters is coming back. We’ve known this for some time, and we’ve even known that the likes of Dan Aykroyd were involved, with Ernie Hudson expressing interest in coming back as well. But how extensive would their involvement be? Would we be seeing any other original cast members return to the fold? That remained to be seen. But at least for now, we can rest easy knowing at least one other is coming back.

Speaking with Parade, original Ghostbusters star Sigourney Weaver revealed that she would be returning, and the article also straight-up printed that Bill Murray would also be coming back. Here’s an excerpt from the piece so you can see the unambiguous nature of the write-up.

“She’s also set to reunite with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in the new Ghostbusters, due July 2020. ‘It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!’ she says. She won’t reveal any details except to confirm she’s reprising her role as hauntee Dana Barrett.”

Hopefully, this will help in the franchise earning some good faith from fans. That being said, the other original Ghostbusters came back for the 2016 reboot, and that didn’t stop it from getting trashed from one end of the room to another. Only time will tell what fans truly think.

Thus far, we do know this film will be a more teen-centric take, so I get the feeling the filmmakers are already fighting an uphill battle here. But here’s hoping that director Jason Reitman has what it takes to tame the wild beasts that are the original fans.
